10 years old with a brain tumor

My name is Steve and I am the father of Ben. He is 10 years old and in April of this year he was diagnosed with a midline glioma tumor located in the center of his brain.

How did this start and what signs did we notice? Well, my wife Andy and I start our mornings getting our 3 boys ready for school and Ben starts throwing up. We thought maybe this could be a food allergy or maybe he is lactose like his brother and had ice cream the night before. So we started avoiding milk and he stopped throwing up. Later in the week he vomited again, complained about a headache and showed signs of being tired. If you know our son he does not lay around the house, Ben is very active and always doing a sport or activity outside. He stayed home and was being closely watched by his mom, she listened to her gut and rushed him to the local urgent care demanding they give him an MRI. We found something they said! It's a mass located in the center of his brain blocking his spinal fluid from entering the brain. I will never forget this day and writing it out brings back a lot of emotion.

Urgent care rushed Ben to Memorial Hospital 1 hour away and they got him into surgery the following Monday Morning. The Neurologist took a sample and opened up a path for the fluid to pass the mass alleviating his pain and symptoms. Now what do we do next? The sample went out to be examined and we where told that the results will be given to us in 2 weeks and they took 4 extremely long weeks to call us in and discuss the findings.
